| El solar
objeto de proyecto está situado de manera tangente a la antigua ronda de
la muralla, Calle Guillem de Castro, y a la vez está en el interior de
una manzana. Se caracteriza por la diversidad de elementos que en él
confluyen, y por ser el punto de encuentro entre dos sistemas espaciales
completamente opuestos: el sistema de amplias perspectivas de la calle y
aquel más cerrado de la manzana. El objetivo de la propuesta es conciliar
ambos sistemas, reforzando su especifidad, y permitiendo a la vez una
lectura más clara de cada uno de ellos.
La calle está bordeada por edificación abierta, de carácter eminentemente público, dispuesta de forma paralela a la vía, dejando asomar por sus tapias frondosos jardines. La manzana pertenece al tejido residencial y está conformada por edificaciones de altura elevada. Es un espacio cerrado, de forma irregular, y como premisa del proyecto se supone incompleto. La forma actual de la manzana, por su carácter inacabado, invita más a pensar en un "abrazo" que en un sistema claustral. Para concebir el proyecto no se ve la manzana como un día debió ser, sino que se intenta reconocer con la forma que actualmente tiene. Esto implica la necesidad de asumir la medianera que queda libre como un elemento más en la organización espacial del solar. El objetivo del proyecto será el de reflexionar sobre el posible nexo capaz de integrar este inestable abrazo, con el equilibrio y la serenidad del Instituto Cervantes. Actualmente los une un vacío indiferente que esperamos que en el futuro llegue a ser conciliador. |
The
site is placed at a tangent to the circle of the old city walls, on Calle
Guillem de Castro. It is also in the interior of a block. Its defining
features are the diversity of the elements that converge on this point and
its being the meeting place of two completely opposite spatial systems:
that of the street, with its broad perspectives, and the more closed one
of the block. This project aims to reconcile the two while reinforcing
their specificity and enabling a clearer reading of each to be obtained.
The street is lined by open building of an eminently public nature set parallel to the road, with leafy gardens showing over their walls. The block is part of the residential fabric, composed of high buildings. It is a closed-off space with an irregular shape and, as a premise of the project, is presumed to be incomplete. The current shape of the block, given its unfinished character, prompts the idea of an "embrace" rather than a cloister-type system. The concept of the project is not to see the block as it must once have been but to attempt to recognise it in its present form. This implies the need to accept the party wall that remains free as one more element in the spatial organisation of the site. The purpose of the project is to reflect on a possible nexus to integrate this unstable embrace with the balance and serenity of Cervantes school. At present they are joined by an indifferent vacuum which we hope will become conciliatory in future. |
