| El Aulario
tres se instala en un solar marginal situado en el extremo sureste del
campus universitario de Alicante. El resto de los edificios docentes se
sitúan en el interior de la ronda de circunvalación en solares exentos y
rodeados de zonas verdes. Una extensa red de amplios paseos peatonales
envuelve a todos ellos garantizándoles tranquilidad, silencio y
aislamiento suficiente.
Aislado pues del resto del campus, y rodeado por una vía de intenso tráfico y grandes playas de aparcamiento, el Aulario deberá garantizarse por sí mismo lo que al resto de edificios les viene dado por su situación en la ordenación general del campus: zona verde, espacio exterior, aire, luz y un ambiente propicio para su uso. Construido aprovechando un pilotaje existente, el Aulario desarrolla un esquema estructural que le libera de la trama de apoyos y le permite disponerse sobre el suelo con una mayor libertad de forma. Esto deviene un sistema de muros y losas que generan una construcción que se protege suficientemente de la contaminación producida por aparcamientos y vías rodadas y se abre al norte-sur, y sobre sí misma, en completa y continua transparencia. El proyecto se piensa como una gran arboleda en la que se intercalan siete pabellones que flotan sobre el terreno dando forma a una arquitectura que envuelve y acompaña sin cobrar protagonismo. Una arquitectura donde lo exterior-interior se ha tornado un todo continuo que necesita de la incorporación urgente de la vida para alcanzar a ser, a tener sentido. El breve plazo de proyecto (mes y medio) y de construcción (seis meses) determinó una solución técnica general basada en la claridad y facilidad de montaje y puesta en obra.

The
Lecture Halls 3 building is located on an outlying plot on the
south-eastern edge of the University of Alicante campus. All the other
teaching buildings are sited on individual plots inside the ringroad. They
are enveloped in green areas and surrounded by an extensive network of
wide pedestrian paths, ensuring adequate isolation, silence and peace.
This building is cut off from the rest of the campus and encircled by large expanses of car park and a road with heavy traffic. It has to provide for itself what the rest of the buildings are given by their location in the overall layout of the campus: green areas, exterior space, air, light and an appropriate environment. While making use of some existing pile foundations, the Lecture Halls building develops a structural scheme that frees it from the supporting grid and allows it to spread over the ground with greater liberty of form. It evolves into a system of walls and slabs which generate a construction that provides sufficient protection from the pollution produced by the roads and car parks and opens in a north-south direction, and onto itself, in total, continuous transparency. The design concept is a large wooded area dotted with seven pavilions floating on the ground, giving form to an architecture that envelops and accompanies rather than pushing itself into the limelight. In this architecture, exterior-interior have become a continuous whole that requires the urgent incorporation of life in order to achieve being and make sense. The shortness of the time available for design (one and a half months) and building (six months) determined the choice of an overall technical solution based on clarity and ease of assembly and erection. |
