Por un lado, el lugar, de importante valor paisajístico,
terreno de arrozal inundado durante seis meses al año donde destaca la
horizontalidad y la enorme profundidad visual. Por otro lado, la autopista
del Saler que pasa muy próxima a la parcela. Finalmente, el programa:
Escuela de hostelería y residencia de estudiantes.
El edificio quiere integrarse en el lugar sin renunciar al valor de la
forma en arquitectura. Con rotundidad, pero con timidez y, sobretodo, con
respeto. Se semientierra creando su huella, su lugar, a la vez que protege
la residencia de estudiantes de las ondas sonoras de la autopista
respondiendo a la idea inspirada en Saarinen de las dos “esferas
cristalinas”: una elevada destinada al programa diurno y otra enterrada
dedicada al descanso. Flotando quedan los volúmenes del aulario y de las
aulas-taller. Volúmenes puros que buscan participar de este paisaje, sin
perder de vista el horizonte.

de la porción de tierra que vincula la vivienda con el globo, eso es, con
el infinito”.

On the one hand there is the place,
a valuable landscape of rice fields, flooded for six months of the year,
that is remarkable for its horizontality and enormous visual depth. On the
other hand, the Saler motorway passes very close to the site. Finally, the
brief: a hotel school and student residence.
The building wants to become part of
the place without relinquishing the value of form in architecture.
Emphatically yet timidly and, above all, with respect. It is semi-buried,
creating its footprint, its place, while at the same time protecting the
student residence from the sound waves of the motorway, responding to the
idea of two “glass spheres” inspired by Saarinen: a raised one for the
daytime brief and a buried one for resting. The blocks of classrooms and
practicals rooms float. They are pure volumes that seek to take part in
this landscape without losing sight of the horizon.

covering a place, delimiting the portion of ground that links the house to
the globe, that is to say, to the infinite”.
