ecotipos

The relationship between the different elements of an ecosystem (the physical medium and the organisms that inhabit it, biotope and biocoenosis) are usually complex, but the rules are generally set by the physical medium, the biotope: the characteristics of the medium define the adaptations that living beings must make to live in it. The term 'ecotypes' refers to sub-species that are genetically adapted to their habitats.
The opposite phenomenon is also found in nature, however: just as coral reefs influence ocean currents, the activities of all living beings have an enormous effect on the characteristics of their physical media.

These concepts are directly applicable to the relationship between architecture and nature.
From examples of more abstract or more poetic works such as the Wood of Life or the Fungal Garden, which are closer to the sphere of land art, to those with more specific or concrete briefs such as the Centre for Higher Musical Studies in Santiago de Compostela, this issue attempts to trace a path through the present-day architectural ecosystem.
