The form and volume of the new building are predetermined by the basic stipulations, so the twists, projections and recesses are the only formal mechanisms that will allow the project to escape from the strict and rigid outline drawn up by the normative. These movements will help to avoid undesirable frontal relationships with some of the neighbouring structures and at the same time to maintain dialogue elements that were not originally envisioned.

On the other hand, the program for the Valencia Museum of the Illustration distances itself from the usual contents seen in other spaces designed for exhibition. We are dealing here with a museum which will hold a minimal amount of permanent collections, where most of the itinerary is articulated by means of scenes, of spaces which owe much to literary, theatre, musical and cinematographic references. Scenes which therefore have an ephemeral character which is very much in line with the desire to facilitate the partial reconstruction of the exhibitions, and which will be done up by the Fallas artists of Valencia.

The trajectory route is established in the formal and composite order argument of the project. A descending order trajectory is proposed, running through the numerous exhibition halls, and organised along softly inclined ramps which run the full length of the building.

The project also sets up a unitary and compact image, which contrasts to the more fragmentary concept suggested by its foundations.
